overview of site origins and content

It all Began with Keeping Notes

The idea for this website began with the software development concept known as "dogfooding". The idea was to start using a website implemented with Drupal to keep notes, on a variety of sub-topics, about website development with Drupal. Again, the supposition was/is that if Drupal is so powerful a tool, why not use a Drupal website as a storage container for various types of notes and information about Drupal sitebuilding that needed to be assembled anyway.

An additional layer of the dogfooding concept described in the first paragraph above, is that a Drupal "dogfooding" website would also be a great place to test and demonstrate Drupal features and Drupal components. In addition, it seems as though, much like Drupal itself and drupal.org, such a website should be sort of "open source" media, not that the site itself would be wiki, but that its contents would not be kept private, that the notes gathered would be shared publicly, no matter how informal, and despite the fact that the information might/would be subject to possible constant change, and likely continuous development and evolution.

As a result, this website not only discusses Drupal and Drupal components, but be its very nature represents an ad-hoc Drupal functionality, and Drupal contributed module and theme functionality, demonstration archive. This seems important since Drupal seems to remain a somewhat misunderstood, and sometimes under-estimated, software tool, despite its power, often because of the enormous and complex software system Drupal represents when combined with its thousands of contributed modules.

Those some of the concepts upon which the drupalwork.space website is based, and some of the precursors of the drupalwork.space website's origins.
