A List of Essential Modules for Base Drupal 8 Installations
Module Essentials
When creating an initial base Drupal website installation, even before beginning site building or other site development work, there is a set of Drupal modules that have become essential components for any and every Drupal website. A list of these essential Drupal modules includes (but might not be limited to):
- Module Filter
- Admin Toolbar
- Password Policy
- Login History
- Read Only Mode
- Captcha
- Honeypot
- Password Policy
- Token
- Ultimate Cron
- IMCE
- PathAuto
- Pathologic
- MetaTag
- Search Exclude
- Rules
- XMLsitemap
- Taxonomy Views Integrator
- Search404
- Redirect
- Login Email or Username
- Module
- Module
The list above is certainly a discretionary one. Without a doubt, a longer list of additional modules of great importance could be created, but it is hard to imagine basic Drupal website building without the set of modules listed above installed from the start.
This list needs to be updated and further maintained. Although some of the modules above exist for Drupal 7, this list is tailored toward Drupal 8, and therefore includes some modules that only exist for Drupal 8.
